Setting New Year’s resolutions (if there are any) may be a chore in itself, but I like to think that beauty resolutions are actually fun things to accomplish in 2023. A routine can help you build healthy habits that give you a radiant complexion. Plus, devoting time to beauty resolutions is an easy way to incorporate more self-care into your daily routine.

For inspiration, we talk to 10 experts about the down-to-earth beauty solutions they’re going for this year, along with all the tips and products that can help you master them.

As life gets busier, it’s easy to compromise your beauty routine or skip some steps, but consistency is key to seeing results. “Normally, I love carving out time for self-care, both at home and at the office. But like most of us, I’ve been very busy and neglected my ‘me time,'” says Med. says Joie Tavernise, esthetician and founder of JTAV Clinical Skincare. “In the new year, I plan to dedicate myself to professional treatments and a good skin care routine. I want to do everything to

Similarly, Shani Darden, celebrity esthetician and founder of her namesake skincare line, wants to make time to incorporate at-home devices into her daily routine. She and her Tavernise highlighted the benefits of using LED light therapy to enhance the benefits of other treatments. Tavernise does her LED therapy weekly, radiofrequency with Vivace microneedles and she also does her Hydrafacial once a month. And if you can’t make regular visits to a professional, an at-home device is an initial investment that pays off in the long run. “When used consistently, it can give very good results and minimize the need for costly treatments later on.”

“LED light therapy has been a staple of my facials for years,” says Darden. Her FDA-cleared face and neck mask uses acne mode and red and infrared light simultaneously. Features an anti-aging setting that She reduces the appearance of wrinkles and gives the skin a wonderful glow. The facialist says she wants to make time at least five days a week for 10-minute treatments.

For a more affordable option (admittedly a splurge), this LED mask features a quick 3-minute treatment with blue, red, or a combination of lights, according to our social leader Stephanie Griffin. said it made a noticeable difference in reducing breakouts and evening out skin tone. .

To stick to her resolve, Tavernise says she sets aside time each week for an LED mask and a facial roller. Before both, she applies this antioxidant-packed serum. ”

Rachel Gallo, Esthetician and Chief Operating Officer of Silver Mirror Facial Bar, says exfoliation is key, with her determination to create a more even skin tone and texture. But she points out that many of her clients are inconsistent with exfoliating at home, and celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern says that’s also what she wants to tackle in the new year. “Months and months can go by without shedding dry, weathered layers and allowing new skin to form,” says Stern. into your skincare routine, use an exfoliant one day, a retinol the next, and only moisturizing products for the next two days. .

Additionally, alternating exfoliation with retinol helps maintain the skin barrier for better results (without the dreaded dryness and irritation commonly associated with retinol products). Emmy-winning makeup artist Gabi For her Pasqua, consistent use of retinol is her New Year’s beauty resolution.

Gallo loves these swipe and go exfoliating pads. “These contain multiple AHA and BHA acids to target multiple skin problems at once.” These pads, he uses three times a week, give him a post-vacation glow. , evens out skin tone.”

Stern says this physical exfoliating scrub made with bamboo microcrystals “does the job.”

Pascua says she “saw the most results” with this serum, which targets fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration, blemishes, and more, but stopped using it when it ran out. I want to be in shape.

The best moisturizer from Pasqua for daily use is this hydrating option featuring all-star ingredients like ceramides, peptides and our proprietary green tea polyphenol technology.

Another beauty solution, says Stern, is to “spend more time with skin care tools that contain healing tinctures.” Facial massages like gua sha help promote lymphatic flow, improve blood circulation and help you relax. When using a face oil or serum with a facial massage tool, it’s best to glide it along the skin rather than pulling it.

Stern says the serum, which contains botanical blends such as sea buckthorn, rosehip and grapeseed oils, is “very luxurious and [massage] The tool does its magic. ”

“My beauty resolution for 2023 is to always use conditioner when I shampoo,” says Nick, celebrity hairstylist, Ulta executive and founder of Nick Stenson Beauty. It’s Stenson. A conditioning step is especially helpful in dry, cold winter weather that can sap moisture from your locks. If you have very dry hair, a hair mask or leave-in conditioner can also be a savior from brittle ends. Healthy hair is sexy hair, regardless of the hairstyle or color you’re aiming for, so in 2023, hair care will become more of a focus.”

“Every time I use Nick Stenson Beauty Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner, my hair looks 100% better and easier to style than when I don’t,” says Stenson. “So we can’t skip his second step in 2023!”

For an extra boost of hydration, Graciano loves this hair mask. “[It’s] It reduces unwanted frizz, increases elasticity and prevents breakage, and works deep into the strands of your hair to deliver the nutrients and moisture it needs to keep it looking and feeling healthy.

Maintain healthy hair with heat styling

“My goal is to keep my hair hydrated and healthy while adding more blowouts and styling tools each week,” says Jess Mead, colorist at Rob Peetoum Salon Williamsburg. As I grow older, I like to switch from natural textures to a smoother blowout look, which creates more heat and more damage to my hair.

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that heat styling is bad, especially for those with curls. may be the healthiest choice. “I’ve been an air-dry only person for a long time. But walking around with wet hair soaked for hours isn’t the best thing for your hair’s health,” says Brown. The pH of the hair is 7, which is 4.5 to 5.5 for the hair and body.If you keep your hair at a high pH for hours, it can weaken your hair.” helps maintain the

To finish the styling, Meade applies a dime-sized amount of Invisible Serum. [to] Untie the curls, focusing on the ends of the hair. ” Adds shine to hair without weighing it down. Next, she shakes off her hair, sprays Davines This Is A Dry Her Texturizer for hold, and sprays Davines This Is A Shimmering Her Mist for a dewy finish.

If curls bother you, Brown recommends starting your styling in the shower. “Many people with curly hair style their hair when they’re not in the shower, which is prime time for frizz to occur,” she warns. One of my favorite products is the Kenra All Curl Defining Jelly, which smoothes frizz, boosts stretch, and provides amazing definition.”

“Diffusing your hair with a tool like the Dyson Supersonic dryer with a diffuser attached is a complete game changer,” says Brown. Expensive hair tools are our favorite high-end hair dryer and worth every penny (also great as a gift). “If you don’t have time to let it dry completely, spending at least 10 minutes on the diffuser will be very beneficial to the overall health of your hair,” the hairstylist notes.

Don’t forget to hydrate your hands

“My New Year’s nail care resolution is to moisturize my nails and hands regularly. I’ve been doing it more often lately, especially after washing my hands,” says celebrity nail artist and founder of JinSoon. said Jin Soon Choi, the owner of nail spa.

Choi always carries this hand cream with her so she can always apply it to her clean, dry hands. “It’s fast-absorbing, long-lasting, and hydrating with organic ingredients like argan oil, aloe vera, and shea butter.”
