Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has spent 18 seasons in the National Hockey League and recently became the league’s second-leading goalscorer. On Thursday night, The Great his eight scored his first goal since overtaking Gordy his Howe in goals.
Ovechkin scored his 23rd goal of the 2022–23 regular season in the second period of the Caps’ contest against the Ottawa Senators at Capital One Arena. Eric Gustafson and Garnett Hathaway recorded assists in the tally, and it went away.

By scoring the first goal of the game, Ovechkin added his 803rd career goal, adding to the NHL-record game-opening goal total, bringing his marker against Senz to 138 in eighth place.

Ovechkin now has 92 goals in the Caps’ home game against the Winnipeg Jets on December 23, beating NHL great Gordy Howe to break Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record of 894 goals. .
Gustafsson, who recorded his first assist on Ovechkin’s goal, has scored points in six straight games and continues to shed absolutely productive tears (5G, 5A). The 10 points for the 56th place since December 17 is first among the league blueliners.
