Seeing an abandoned sailing ship floating 800 miles from Bermuda had a life-changing impact on the two sailors. No one was on board, and Matt Rutherford and his colleagues at the Ocean Research Project were worried the crew was in trouble.
Only when they boarded the ship did they realize there was no one else on board and the engine had stopped. The ship was actually discovered in 2013, and the crew has only shared new footage. here is what it shows.

Rutherford and his colleagues discovered the ship and found that it had no sails up and was “behaving strangely”. “This is a badly abandoned yacht,” Rutherford said in the video. I hope you don’t find anything crazy.”
Upon boarding the boat, Rutherford spotted signs of people leaving in a hurry. “Part of the ceiling had collapsed in some places,” Rutherford explained. “Some drawers were open and I could hear water splashing…it was just the creepiest thing. It looked crazy there. Like people abandoned it in the middle of something. ”
Rutherford noticed clothes and belongings scattered all over the floor. “By the way, this is absolutely crazy,” he said. “Here we are, 800 miles from Bermuda, 1,500 miles from the United States, standing on a very nice Swan 48 in the middle of the ocean. woke up.”
The ship was reportedly found abandoned ten years ago after a storm damaged the ship and the crew sent out a distress call. The Royal Irish Yacht, captained by her club’s Mr. Alan McGettigan, was rescued by a Greek freighter.
Left at Sea
The ship was brand new when it was damaged on its maiden voyage from Connecticut to Bermuda to Antigua. Rutherford contacted the captain of the abandoned ship and offered him a reward if he returned the ship.
