Americas – Andre Robinson of Americas has been hired as a full-time Barber Instructor at South Georgia Technical College, SGTC President Dr. John Watford announced. Robinson has been a part-time hairdressing instructor at SGTC since August 2019. He will report to David Kuipers, Vice President of Academic Affairs.
With over 30 years of professional hairdressing experience, Robinson owed up to Uptown Cuts Barbershop in Vienna, Georgia before accepting a part-time hairdressing instructor position at South Georgia Tech. In addition to providing professional haircuts and styling, Robinson also provided professional facials and professional hair care treatments at his shop.
“I am very pleased that Andre Robinson has accepted the position of full-time hairdressing instructor,” said Watford President. I am ready to test and get my license. I wish him every success in his new full-time position.”
The SGTC Barbering Program is a four-term program and new students are accepted per term. In addition to the basics of hairdressing, including an introduction to barber/styling equipment, disinfection, hygiene, bacteriology, haircuts and shampoos, basic styling, shaving, anatomy and physiology, and an introduction to color theory/color application, students will I also take English and Mathematics. , computer literacy, interpersonal and professional development courses. You will also have the opportunity to participate in apprenticeships, internships, and take classes in shop management/ownership.
Robinson is a graduate of South Georgia Tech. After he earned an advanced drafting degree, he went on to Southwestern State University in Georgia, where he earned an associate’s degree in Applied Science. He also attended Albany State University and studied psychology.
Prior to opening his own barber shop, Robinson worked as a counselor at Macon State Penitentiary, providing care and treatment/counseling for the Georgia Department of Corrections.
