Runners will participate in the January 1, 2020 version of the Hair of the Dog Run. This was the last one done due to COVID-19 restrictions. The run will resume and take place on the Boardwalk on Sunday morning, January 1, 2023.
Welcome to 2023! If you’re looking for an opportunity to kick off the New Year with some exercise, today is the Hair of Dog Run in the Beach.
The Hair of the Dog Run will take place on Sunday, January 1st on the Boardwalk (starting and ending at Balmy Beach Club), with in-person registration still taking place this morning.
A longtime beach tradition, the run is back after being canceled two years in a row due to COVID-19 safety concerns.
Today’s run will be 41st The time the Hair of Dog event was held locally. The first version of the event he held in 1980. The funds raised will be used to support the Balmy Beach Canoe Club’s amateur paddling program.
Local residents can participate in a 3km walk (starting at 11:30am) or an 11km run (starting at noon).
Both walks and runs start on the boardwalk on the south side of Balmy Beach Club at 360 Lakefront.
The Hair of the Dog brings together running groups, sports teams, individuals and families.
Online registration for the 2023 version of the Hair of the Dog Run has closed, but in-person registration at the club will be available on January 1st at 11am.
