XOMONDO Founder Brad Mondo
Brad Mond literally grew up in a hair salon. His dad owns a salon, and young Brad has been doing haircuts and haircuts for as long as he can remember. He’s been cutting people’s hair long before he got his license, but he doesn’t tell anyone. That’s our little secret.
I’ve been interested in marketing and advertising since I was a kid and when I was looking through the salon shelves I realized something was missing.
Mondo said: I have never seen gays or men. The packaging always featured a blonde woman between the ages of 20 and 35. It was very boring to me. So at the time, there was no one I could sympathize with.
Even at that young age, he knew he would one day create his own hair care line.
But in addition to being a young aspiring entrepreneur and hair stylist, he had a great interest in pop culture.Brittany Spears and jersey shorehe devoured content, including YouTube.
With his mother’s encouragement, he got a small camera and started shooting. First, I shot a skit that was popular at the time. Then he experimented with his vlogs and millions of other types of videos of his travels.
Despite years of trying, he had no success on YouTube.
And there are great lessons for young aspiring YouTubers. It doesn’t happen overnight.
While trying to become the next YouTube star, Mondo went to school to become a hairstylist. After that, he found success as a famous hair stylist.
And about ten years after starting YouTube, it finally happened.
Mondo said: I gave it professional advice, so it was educational, comedic, and relevant. The day after I uploaded the video, he had his 600,000 views and his subscribers. has grown to 2,000. “
Once you’ve got a trending video on YouTube, don’t just wait for the next one to be posted. You should jump on that wave and start posting videos right away.
And that’s exactly what he did. He quickly grew his channel and became famous for his funny “reaction” videos. He used to make funny comments on YouTube about a girl who did a terrible job cutting and bleaching her hair. In addition to his comedy videos, he also gave practical tips on how to cut, color, or style his hair.
After years of fame and success on YouTube, he finally decided to pursue his dream of owning his own hair care brand.
At first I thought he was the only good idea.
“I never had an offer from a company to start my own line, so I was like, ‘Let’s make my own line.’ I invested a lot of my own money but I was the only one working on this product at the time I didn’t know how to get a sample or how to make a bottle I don’t know anything So I was learning from the ground up, so I did YouTube and did it all myself.”
The brand was called XMONDO, but it didn’t look like the hugely successful brand it is today.
Mondo had no clear idea of what he was going to create. Initially, he tried to make only products that were already on the market.
However, it’s hard to create your own brand identity by just doing what everyone else does.
But he kept at it and figured it out as he went along.
Mondo said: And it’s okay for him to step into something without knowing it. So many people are ingrained in my head that I need to understand them all. Know your mission. Know exactly what steps you are taking. know your goals Know this, know that. I say Like, shut up and just do it. It feels better to do something than to plan, plan, plan and do nothing. “
After two years of keeping the lights on and trying to make a modest profit, he had his first big success. It was a product called Wavetech. We had a blast during COVID.
The product line has expanded rapidly and the XMONDO product line now includes shampoos and conditioners, styling products, wave systems, repair and treatment products and even merchandise.
Mondo said: And use my name to sell these products. But now I’m thinking, “What will the future of hair care look like?” What is the future of hair color? That’s what excites me. “
And he’s still interested and excited about industries outside of hair care.
He said, “I want to get into fashion more. But eventually I want to be more involved in the world of fashion.I don’t want to be a hairdresser forever.I have a great career and I love it, but it’s very difficult for me. There is a lot of creativity in , and I feel that I can go down so many different paths.
Who knows what it looks like?
But if it’s anything like XMONDO, it’s definitely going to be innovative, tech-related, and fun.
