Desire after a fresh cut? There’s a new bob in town that’s getting our attention.
Searches for “chopped bob haircut” are up a whopping 550% into 2023, according to LookFantastic’s Beauty Trends report, so we’re not alone. To do just that, given her truly staggering shoulder-length choppy masterpiece she debuted last month.
Prior to a talk show chat with Jimmy Fallon, her hairstylist Dave Stanwell took to his Instagram with a photo of Jenna with noticeably short, noticeably shaggy, deliciously rebellious hair. We are grateful✂️,” he said.
Instead of a tradional blunt bob shape, Dave was chopped into layers that Wednesday himself seemed to hack — just the glam version. I think I’m obsessed with crab.
So what’s the secret to getting the cut right? There’s probably no better person to talk about this style than Dave himself.
As a first step, decide how long or how short you want it, he says. “When you add layers and chop it, it’s a little shorter than a normal one-length bob, so choose a length that’s comfortable for you first,” explains Dave.
Then adjust it according to the texture of your hair. “This works for most hair types, but curls as well,” he says Dave.
But know that in madness there is a way. Like no-makeup makeup, there’s a skill that makes this style look the perfect amount of mushy. Check it out,” says Dave.
What about styling? Keep it simple. “Sometimes less is better,” he admits Dave.
Here are five examples to show you hairstylists.
