It must have been a very scary ride for a 5 year old girl. Police in Fairfax County, Virginia, made police nervous for nearly an hour after her car was stolen Sunday night with a child in the back seat.
According to Fairfax County Police, the girl’s stepfather, the driver, left the car’s engine running at about 6:30 p.m. rice field. When he returned to the parking lot, the car was missing the girl.
Police flooded the area and a Fairfax 1, a county police helicopter, flew overhead to help search for the stolen vehicle carrying the girl.
At approximately 7:18 p.m., the girl was found alone in downtown Washington, D.C., near 13th and E Streets northwest. The child was immediately returned to the family, and police said the child and family are an extension of the county’s resources provided to crime victims.
Police are looking for the culprit and the stolen 2012 gray Honda Accord with black bonnet. The car has front and rear damage and has Maryland tag 94667CJ.
