“Is that a woman?” Hockey Shin’s 40-year-old Natalie Lutz unleashes her lead dog on New Year’s Day on the boardwalk of Bethany Beach, sprinting through tourist traffic from south to north, 19:08 throttle – Won the 12th Annual Hair of the Dog 5K in Back Time. The race had a total of 353 runners.
Jeff Warren, 46, of Washington, DC, was second and first overall male in 19:18.
Mike Sewell, 53, was third overall in 19:27 and was the Men’s Masters winner.
The top six runners on the leaderboard have broken 20 minutes. Next in the top three was Eric Baumgarter, 28, from Dougsboro at 19:27. Peter Bozzo, 33 years old, New York, 19:38. and Brent Zeiders, 49, of Etters, PA., 19:48.
Tanya Campbell, 40, of Furnace, Pennsylvania, won the Women’s Masters title in 21:48.
The race roster was a mix of runners from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware with contenders from New Jersey, DC, and Virginia.
There is a grandmasters division for runners 60 and over, which was won by Lee Stumpf of Sykesville, Maryland in 23:25.
The 70-to-Infinity men’s winner was Millsboro’s James Rattigan, 75, in 29:11, while Laurel’s David Downing, 71, was second in 29:58.
70 vs. Infinity Women’s winner was Linda Carter, 80, of Potomac, Md., in 42:26 followed by Linda Tice, 77, of Ocean City, Md., in 45:42 and Dolly Dirge, 79, won. State College, Pennsylvania, 47:27.
Summit MacGray, 9, of Cumberland, Md., won the under-9 men’s race in 26:01, while Ruby Leps, 8, of Lewes, ran 24:39 and won the under-9 women’s race. Did. Her 9-year-old Caroline Warren in Washington, D.C., finished second in 27:35.
