You don’t have to trim your bangs every week, but you probably can’t wait a month — according to Oprah Daily, most people need to trim their bangs every two to three weeks.
However, you will find that the commitment is worth it. “Your bangs become your hairstyle. Styling your bangs makes a simple ponytail look great for date night,” Dove celebrity stylist Mark Townsend told Oprah Daily.
Luckily, some salons offer free bang trims between haircuts. But if you don’t want to visit a hairstylist all the time to get a consistent trim, you can try trimming your bangs at home.
A YouTube video outlines the steps on how to do this. First, cut off the remaining locks and pay attention to the shape of the bangs. Then comb the bangs according to its shape. If you have a long frame on the side, the middle part of the bangs should be trimmed first. Note that too little is always better than too much.
Pinch the bangs between your fingers and cut vertically instead of horizontally with scissors for a softer look. Continue trimming and checking the length until the fringe is the desired length. Next, hold your scissors at an angle and carefully trim the long frame portion of your bangs.
