Hair color expert Vicky Ann Hoskin is the recent winner of E4’s The Big Blow Out. So she knows a thing or two about dyeing her hair.
A hairdresser since 2005, Vicki is a specialist in everything from creative vibrant colors to balayage, brunettes, blondes and color correction work.
She spoke to Express.co.uk about the correct way to cover gray hair with dye. Vicki explained the best types of dyes to use, low-maintenance options, and one big mistake to avoid.

She explains: “Highlights are a great option to lift gray hair and can be polished with an ash or pearl toner to really revive gray hair and give it a bright, fresh finish.
“If you have gray hair creeping in and want to eventually go all gray, it’s a great way to gradually lighten.”
When it comes to dyeing your hair at home, Vicky generally advises against doing it.
