Well, we are hair.
One woman on TikTok said she hadn’t washed her hair in 17 days, so she got a perm.
In a video that has nearly four million views, Los Angeles influencer Emily Alexander explained that she didn’t wash her mane on Day 17. It’s what I always do.
“I need to style it today,” Alexander announced as he removed the gray headband from his messy hair.
In the 51-second clip, Alexander discussed how he styled his rock that day. She decided on a high ponytail and braids. The brunette put the gel on her roots as well, but she was supposed to wash her hair the next day (day 18), so she didn’t have to worry about it lasting long.

“That’s my 17th day hair,” she said at the end of the video, showing off the braids she adorned with a white bow.
While she was happy with her unwashed hair, commenters in the video told a different story, blaming the influencer for not cleaning her hair for nearly half a month.
“I’m so confused girl, wash your hair,” one person wrote in the comments section.
“17 days??” another user asked. “This ‘don’t wash your hair’ goes too far.”
Others agreed, and one said, “‘I don’t smell it.’ [an] External sources for this.

However, Alexander may just be onto something. Not everyone needs to wash their hair every day, according to Seattle integrative dermatologist Elizabeth Hughes, who shared the tip with Healthline.
Alexander defended himself in his comments, explaining that he’s been doing this since he was younger and noticed his hair grew longer the less he washed it.
“We find that everyone’s hair is different and some are more effective. [for] They more than others,” wrote one viewer in defense of Alexander. “It’s not like she hasn’t washed her body.”

One even said she was “great” with her messy hair.
“It’s a daily anxiety because I feel how dirty my hair is,” they wrote. [but] you look fine. “
