PARIS, Jan. 11 — There is one health warning that may be of particular concern to men. A recent study from China found that excessive consumption of sugary drinks not only contributes to obesity and tooth decay, but may also promote the development of baldness.
Many people are concerned about hair loss as they age. Also called male pattern baldness, this hair phenomenon primarily affects men. It is generally hereditary and can also be related to stress and an unhealthy lifestyle.
Some men are so afraid of it that many hairdressers have a thriving business in the field of hair implants.
But before going to such extremes, it might be worth starting by taking care of your health and reducing your consumption of sugary drinks.
A recent study conducted in China by researchers from Tsinghua University in Beijing and published in a journal nutrients highlights a potential link between excessive intake of sugary drinks and early onset of baldness at the end of 2022.
Specifically, people who drink sugary beverages (including sodas, fruit juices, energy drinks, and iced tea drinks) several times a week are more likely to experience hair loss.
To reach these conclusions, the authors of this study recruited 1,951 participants aged 18 to 45 (only 1,082 were retained in the final analysis). They answered questions about diet and hair health.
“By highlighting that consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages can have a negative impact on one’s physical appearance, it may attract the attention of young people and encourage them to consume less sugar-sweetened beverages,” the study said. The author hopes
However, due to the small sample size of this study and the lack of definitive studies on this particular subject, scientists have not been able to determine the relationship between regular consumption of sugary soft drinks and the risk of premature alopecia. The existence of a causal relationship has not yet been established.
For those concerned about hair loss, some natural solutions can help keep hair longer and fuller.
For example, broccoli and cauliflower are good additions to your plate because they contain sulforaphane, an organic compound known to slow down hair loss.— ETX Studio
