It seems like just yesterday that curtain bangs dominated the hair trends of the year. Well, judging by how things are going, that long-lasting trend will now be a thing of the past. We are starting to see a number of microtrends stemming from cuts. There’s baby curtain bangs, bottleneck bangs, dull curtain bangs, etc. And if that’s any indication, microtrends are about to soar in her 2023. So what does this mean? And what so-called microtrends can we expect in the new year? Please elaborate!

A year of microtrends
Thanks to TikTok and the rapidly changing world of social media, the issue of commitment when it comes to hair and beauty has become an important issue. Trends move faster than say haircuts. That’s where microtrends come into play. These are small trends that last for a short period of time and don’t make the same memorable impression as, say, curtain bangs.
“Microtrends are the dominant trend right now,” Lopez told Mane Addicts. “I don’t think there’s a big trend like this anymore. I’m seeing a lot of people really understand what suits them. Also, people are really starting to use their hair as a form of expression. is a big part of their personal style, especially for Gen Z and younger generations.”
Beauty and hair microtrends to expect in 2023
Use your own hair as a hair accessory
They say hair is the best accessory, but it’s not.
“We see a lot of hair accessories, but we don’t mean actual hair accessories,” Lopez says. For example, people with bobs tie two cute face-framing braids.
long hair
The long hair trend has come and gone, and Lopez expects it to emerge in 2023.
“I think we’ll see a lot of long hair again,” he says. “I think this is a microtrend in that not everyone can [grow it out that long], but people want to explore longer distances. I think this has a lot to do with the lockdown and salons being closed. People began to grow their hair and continued their journey. Now people want their long hair to be healthy, full and shiny. ”
According to Lopez, Kenra Professional’s latest Platinum Rapid Hydration Mask is perfect for quickly hydrating your hair in 3 minutes. We also have rich, lightweight formulas for all hair types.
deeper color
Bright, bold shades aren’t going away, but Lopez hopes more people will embrace their natural shades and intensify them.
“A lot of people go deeper into their hair to reduce maintenance,” says the hairstylist. There aren’t many, so you’ll want to try a darker color to extend the life of your hair. Lopez recommends using Kenra Color Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner to keep color looking fresh.
90’s highlights
The past two years have been dominated by 90s trends, some of which will carry over into next year.
“I see this microtrend of ’90s highlights,” says Lopez. “They aren’t melted at the roots, they’re back-to-back foils, and they feature many bright colors, such as bright blonde.
ribbon highlight
Following the 90s highlight microtrend, we move to bolder, thicker highlights.
“You’ll see very thick, ribbon-like highlights,” explains Lopez. “This technique requires less time in the salon, which is something people really like, and it’s a little easier to maintain. People also love blonde and caramel pops, or a brunette shift in hair.” I love to see
protective hairstyle
A protected style is one that hides the ends of the hair and minimizes manipulation. Protective styles keep your ends free from the elements and other problems that can affect your hair’s health. It benefits the roots and hairline as it relocates the tension on the scalp.
“These styles are very common in the POC community in general and have always been there,” says Lopez. “I don’t want to associate this with trends, but I’ve noticed a great deal of playfulness with these styles. Many of the clients, friends, and people I follow have never worn protective styles. I’ve never done braids myself, but I’m thinking about doing it this winter, so I’m pretty sure these styles will be out in 2023. Lopez recommends Kenra’s latest AllCurl line of products, specifically AllCurl Defining Jelly, Lightweight Defining Creme, and Sealing Oil Spray.
