Initially, Kimmons said she intended to name the business “Your Hair is Your Glory,” but she said, “God gave me the name ‘Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.’ Until you say, “It was something.”
From clothing to hair care, Kimmons says the brand’s most popular item is the handcrafted, all-natural Your Hair is Your Glory hair growth oil. Most recently, Your Hair is Your Glory Deep His Conditioner was released.
Kimmons also detailed some of the challenges he faced in starting his business.
“It certainly wasn’t easy. My biggest piece of advice is to keep God first,” Kimmons said. It’ll tell you everything when to do and when to turn your business around,” Kimmons added, adding, “Be you, be bold, be terrifying, and be wonderfully made.”
Kimmons says being a black business owner in Portland has brought other hurdles.
“Sometimes people will look at me and like what I have, but they’ll look, ‘Oh, she’s a black woman. I’m not going to buy from her,'” Kimmons said. . Just some of the things she faced in business. “Besides that, we have a lot of people of different races supporting us,” she said.
Fearfully and Wonderfully Made products are available online and at select retailers, Kimmons said, and they are working to expand to more retailers to bring the brand to the national level.
