The 8-piece line includes his two collections, Smooth+ and Volume+. Both lines feature the brand’s RF Tri-Energy Complex, which strengthens the scalp’s skin barrier and helps boost scalp energy by up to 200%. “As a first step into the hair category, we want to address the most common hair concerns and our regimen addresses approximately 80% of consumer hair concerns. ,” adds Fields. “We also aimed to fill a huge gap in the world of hair care – delivering immediate and long-term benefits to hair to maximize all-day performance – our innovation I feel it offers the best of both worlds.”
At the helm of each range is a set of targeted, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. The Smooth+ line treats dry, frizzy hair and uses hyaluronic acid to replenish. The brand also offers two new stylers, Refresh+ Dry Shampoo and Define+ Curl Cream. Staying true to its tradition of creating formulas that are beneficial to the skin, Rodan + Fields has taken on hair care challenges such as creating a dry shampoo that doesn’t cause buildup on the scalp. “We designed this dry shampoo to have an ultra-fine mist that helps balance oil and sweat while giving volume and fullness to the scalp,” he says Brager. “We took it a step further by adding nourishing ingredients like chamomile to soothe the scalp and rice starch to absorb excess sebum.”
Best place? You can mix and match products according to your daily needs. Before the launch, Brager used Smooth+ Shampoo and Conditioner and Densifying+ Treatment and Defrizzing Oil to increase fullness and add shine, respectively. The result is soft, shiny hair with volume.
When using the line at home, use a Smooth+ set (especially oils) to protect the ends from heat damage and a dry shampoo to extend the wash days. The Smooth+ line boasts light floral scents of freesia, ylang-ylang and sandalwood, which I love. In between washes, the dry shampoo leaves my hair with an addictive fresh citrus scent, featuring fruity notes along with amber and musk.
