An American woman went viral on TikTok after she published a simple safety hack she recommends to all women on Uber and rideshare services.

She said she would drop a hair and fingerprint the back of every Uber she took to leave proof that she was there.
“Since the TikTok girl said she leaves hair and fingerprints on every Uber, I leave hair and fingerprints on every Uber,” the woman wrote in a clip captioned: “Ladies. amirite #lovebeingawoman”.
Many of the comments were grateful for the “wise” advice, while others shared their experiences of feeling unsafe in rideshares and taxis.
“It’s sad that I have to do this,” said one woman, while another replied, “It’s scary and clever at the same time.”
“Wow, I never even thought about this,” wrote a third.
“I had an Uber driver lock me in the car until I gave him five stars and a good comment,” another user recalled.
Not everyone understood the subtle trick, but one viewer explained:
Others have revealed their own tips and tricks for staying safe when being driven by a stranger.
“I pretend I’m on the phone with someone whenever I go in. I usually say, ‘Okay, I’ll take an Uber. I’ll send you my location. Nice to meet you. Goodbye,'” the woman replied.
“Set your Uber name to a guy’s name. It looks like your dad/boyfriend/boss ordered it for you, so it looks like someone is waiting for you.”
“Come in and open the door anytime. Act like you didn’t close it properly. Make sure it’s not child-locked! Another recommendation.”
