Detroit – A 14-year-old girl was discharged from hospital after being injured by an exploding can of hairspray.
Tanaja Johnson had her hair done by an unlicensed stylist working at a clothing boutique in Detroit on Saturday (January 7) when a can of hairspray exploded and injured her.

She was taken to Children’s Hospital for treatment. She was discharged on Thursday (January 12th). The teenager and her mother filed a report with the Detroit Police Department about the incident.
The unlicensed stylist worked at the Spoil Me Rotten Couture apparel boutique on McNichols Road in Detroit.
The stylist admitted that when he put flammable hairspray on the heater of his curling iron, the can exploded in the teen’s face.
The city’s Department of Buildings and Safety has closed boutiques while the state can investigate unlicensed hair stylists.
