Howlin’ Wolf would have hated this bike. Not built for comfort. It’s built to accelerate the human body from rest to highway speed in less time than it took to read this guide.
This is the $44,900 TS Ultra, the new flagship bike from respected e-bike maker Verge. This joins Verge’s existing entry-level 4.5s TS (MSRP $26,900) and 3.5s, $29,000 TS Pro. The TS Ultra features a hubless rear wheel housing a larger 1200 nm (~885 ft-lb torque) electric motor than both the 1000 nm Pro and 700 nm TS, delivering 201 horsepower, 124 MPH top speed and range. Achieve distance 233. miles.
The hubless drive wheels not only look cool, but the space and weight savings from that design decision allowed Verge to increase the size of the battery and relocate it to lower the bike’s center of gravity. This comes in handy when you’re riding a single-seater crotch rocket trying to remove tooth fillings with acceleration power alone. Riders can choose between five color choices (both matte and glossy alternatives), three seat materials (basic leather, perforated leather and Alcantara), and either Wilbers or Ohlins suspension.
Pre-orders are open on the Verge’s product page, and $1,000 will reserve the bike for delivery in Q4 2023. Currently, US sales are limited to a dozen or so states, depending on local regulations on EV sales and imports.
