Why it’s used: Biotin, or vitamin B7, helps your body grow healthy hair and nails.
Evidence: Limited research suggests that biotin supplements may help people with conditions that cause vitamin B deficiency, hair loss, and brittle nails. Anemia, thyroid problems, and other medical problems can affect your hair, skin, and nails. So if you notice any changes in any of these, check with your healthcare provider. Once you’ve ruled them out, there are excellent treatments for hair loss such as oral and topical minoxidil. Skin and hair health require simple steps, not special serums. Eat healthy, reduce stress, drink water, use moisturizer, avoid excessive sun exposure, and apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher daily.
