Popular hairstylist and entrepreneur Nick Chavez died at his home in Beverly Hills on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the age of 66.
His family confirmed his death in a moving statement.
“It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend Nick Chavez passed away today at his Beverly Hills mansion after a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. No sadness.”
A native of Arizona, Nick began his career as a hair stylist in Southern California, working for renowned hairdressers who have served many celebrities and celebrities. After her modeling and acting career, she opened her own salon in Beverly Hills. Nick also has a line of hair care products called Nick Chavez Beverly Hills.
Nick Chavez has graced the covers of magazines such as Vogue, GQ, Elle and Esquire.
Born in Yuma, Arizona in 1956, Nick Chavez was passionate about beauty, hair care and the spiritual life from an early age. His family is of Mexican American as well as Yaqui and Kechan Indian heritage.
As the second oldest of seven children, Nick helped out on the family ranch. According to Nick Chavez’s official website, he also learned “holistic healing therapy from Yaki’s grandmother.”
Nick’s regular job grooming the family’s horses ignited his natural talent for scissors, and he soon created “hip and trendy” hairstyles for his siblings and extended family.
As a young adult, he moved to Southern California in 1977 and began an apprenticeship at a prestigious Beverly Hills salon, quickly becoming a full-fledged hairdresser. His skills are quickly recognized and he has a strong clientele and an even higher reputation.
In his late twenties, the hairstylist took a break from his career to work as a model and actor. During his European tour, he modeled for designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Yves Saint Laurent and Valentino.
Nick’s shoot was a success, and many of his photos graced the covers of magazines such as: Vogue, GQ, Elle, When Esquire, Featured on a 100-foot billboard in Times Square.
Additionally, he worked on TV shows like The Young and the Restless, Hollywood Detectives, some TV commercials.
Back in Beverly Hills, Nick opened his eponymous salon in 1997 and quickly became a hit. His clients included Margaux Hemingway, Lisa Hartman, Belinda Carlisle and others.
Struggling to find the best products for his customers, Nick developed his own line of hair care products in 1999. Nick Chavez Beverly Hills. His goal was to achieve a “gorgeous every day” look through beautiful, healthy hair.
Products are sold both online and through home shopping channels such as QVC, both domestically and internationally.

In March 2020, Nick was diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer. He started chemotherapy in April. On his website, he documented his hair and its recovery during the days of chemotherapy. he said:
“I have always believed that life should not be painful. What makes a difference is how you deal with the pain. Self-love is the greatest medicine. ”
Nick Chavez protégé, on-air and media partner Robbie Larivière will continue the brand with his sister Sandra. Both have been active collaborators in the brand’s product development and innovation.
